How to Approach and Prospect the 3 Types of Cold Market Strangers in Network Marketing

How to Approach and Prospect the 3 Types of Cold Market Strangers in Network Marketing


There are 3 different “buckets” of people you’ll come across

and you’re going to learn how to approach them

How to Prospect a Cold Market Stranger You Meet in Person


Today we’re going to discuss how to prospect a stranger you meet in person.

If it’s someone you meet online,

the easiest way is to quickly use the Magic Script and invite directly

“I’m working on something exciting. This may or may not be for you. Would you be open to taking a look?”

But let’s talk about people you meet offline in person

There are 3 types of strangers and different approaches for each


Group 1: Someone That You Don’t Have Much Time Together and You’ll Never See Again


You only have a few seconds or a minute to be with these people and

chances are you’ll never bump into these people again.

Examples are:

– stranger standing in line with you at coffee shop

– server at a restaurant that’ll you eating at on a vacation trip

With these people you have to invite right away.

Don’t be awkward and try some fake relationship building because they’re in a rush and you don’t have the time

The best script is a version of the Magic Script and goes like this

“I know this is weird and random but our company is expanding in this area.

Would you know anyone that would be interested to earn an extra $500 to $1,000 a month?”

If they ask you what it is, ask for their phone number and schedule a time to talk to them.

If they’re reluctant to do so, then kindly take it away from them and say,

“Don’t worry about it then. This isn’t for you then. You’re not the person we’re looking for. Have a great day”


Group 2: Someone You’ll See Again

These strangers are at a location that you often visit and chances are you’ll bump into them again.

Examples are:

– someone who works out in the same gym as you

– someone new you meet at church

– someone you meet in the schoolyard while waiting to pick up your kids

– cashier at the grocery store you always buy groceries at

– server at local restaurant that you often eat at

With these people, you can spend more time to say hello and get to know them

In other words, you can focus on relationship building..

You can compliment then, ask how they’re doing and find common things to talk about.

You can always apply these 3 rules to being a powerful communicator

and talk about something in common because people tend to like those that they have something in common with.

You do NOT need to invite quickly.

Give yourself time to get to know the person better.

After a few interactions, sooner or later, they’ll ask you what you do and then you can use the Magic Script

“I’m working on something exciting. This may or may not be for you. Would you be open to taking a look?”

If they say “yes”, then get their phone number and set up a time to talk.


Group 3: You’r Spending Time Together but Afterwards Won’t See Them Again


Examples are:

– Someone you’re sitting next to on a flight

– Someone you meet at a networking event

For these people,

you can treat like the ones in Group 2 except that you have to invite and use the Magic Script before you leave


2 Important Rules

You don’t want to sound desperate and needy so follow these 2 rules

Rule 1: Always Be In a Hurry

Never talk too much.

Just ask and then get their phone number and leave.

Rule 2: Never Present On the Spot

This is related to Rule 1.

You never want to change your plans, start talking and immediately present to your prospect.

That looks desperate, pathetic and scares people away.

The goal is to get their phone number and present later.

You NEVER know who will be interested or know someone that may

Growing or Declining

Success is a process and is a result of the compound effect of small things that happen daily.

→ What were 3 Wins you had yesterday?

They don’t need to be big Wins but just something that you helped you take 1 step closer to your goal.

Write these down and do more of those today

→What were 3 things that you could have done better?

Also write these down and make sure you make improvements

→ Do this everyday and you’ll grow faster each day.

You’re either growing or declining but never in between.
